VALE HIGH SCHOOL is home to about 275 students and 18 teachers. The original building was constructed in 1954 with several additions - the latest, a library, computer lab, and two classrooms were completed in 1998.
Curriculum emphasis is on Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies and the elective studies of automotive technology, agricultural science, business, and Spanish are among the finest programs in the state. Vale has implemented a half year long, Viking Career Exploration Class. Tying everything together is a complex computer network that is readily accessible to every student.
Extra-curricular activities are a vital part of Vale. Over half of the students participate in interscholastic athletics which field teams in nine sports for girls and nine for boys. Participation in state tournaments are common for all our teams with the football team capturing 12 state titles, more than any other school in Oregon. Our Volleyball and Football teams are the current 3A State Champions, and Vale’s automotive trouble-shooting team has 24 state championships and five national titles. Vale High does exceptionally well in other state competitions including FFA, FBLA, and Mock Trial.
All this may sound as if Vale is an extremely competitive high school. It is! We welcome the challenge of competition but value the importance of true sportsmanship. Vale High students and staff work hard to excel both inside and outside the classroom. The trophies are just a small token of the strong feeling of accomplishment they have for jobs well done.
